Dress a Girl workshops: “Dress a Girl Around the World is a Campaign under Hope 4 Women International a 501-(c)-3 organization bringing dignity to women around the world since 2006. It’s a non-denominational independent Christian organization. We dream of a world in which every girl has at least one new dress. We want girls to know that they are worthy of respect, and that they are “loved by God.” The Dress a Girl label on the outside front of the dress helps to protect girls from predators http://www.dressagirlaroundthe

Our local DAG team meets in Tupper Lake periodically to make dresses for God’s little girls. So far, we’ve made over 6,765 dresses that we’ve sent to Haiti, Nepal, South America, Uganda, India, Romania, Brazil, and Cambodia. We also distribute dresses through Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.
Our DAG workshops are held at the Tupper Lake Baptist Chapel, 55 Lake St., Tupper Lake, NY 12986. Enter by the side door. You don’t have to be a seamstress to help with this project; there are plenty of ways that everyone can help! Contact Peg Mauer with questions.
All workshops are currently planned for Saturdays (unless noted otherwise), from 10–3. We always have soup for lunch. Dates for future workshops are:
• July 13 • August 10 •September 7 • October 12

LLWC has been packing shoeboxes for several years. Here are the numbers of boxes shipped out in 2022 and 2023:
The community garden is a ministry of our church. We plant and harvest fresh vegetables, and then prepare bags of vegetables to give to our neighbors and invite them to church. Let us know if you’d like to become involved in working in the garden, or if you’d like to receive some of the fresh produce at harvest time.
2024 is the 19th year for the Long Lake Community Garden! Chris Thompson started this ministry in 2005, when Kevin Austin was our pastor. We distribute about 15,000 lbs. food a year! We have three major events: potato planting in May, broccoli planting in June, and harvest in the fall.
LLWC maintains the town’s local food pantry. No personal information is required to get items and all are welcome.
The food pantry is open on Saturday 9am – 12noon in the Fellowship Hall (lower level) of the church. If it is easier to email your list, please send it to longlakefoodpantry@gmail.com. You can also call the church at 518-624-2411.
If you would like to donate to help maintain stock, please send a check to LLWC, PO Box 322, Long Lake NY 12847. On the memo line, write “Food Pantry.”
Non-perishable items needed for the food pantry are: soup, spaghetti, elbow macaroni, rice, noodles, peanut butter & jam/jelly, cereals (all kinds), pancake mix, syrup, boxed mashed potatoes, ketchup, juices, and whatever else you may be able to spare. Please leave your donations in a box marked “Food Pantry” in the back entry foyer.
Thanks so much!
